“Listened to an excellent local band named One Way Street here. Restaurant Black Bear Diner closes at 8pm so we couldn't eat while we were drinking alcohol. Not good. The band rocked it though”

“We stayed here during the first part of October. We almost changed hotels when we found this was located in a casino. You could smell the cigarette smoke as soon as you walked in. I cannot give this hotel any higher than a two star rating. The plumbing in the bathroom was older than I am. The bathtub in the handicap room almost overflowed the two times that I used it. I had almost every towel in the room wet trying to wipe up the water. I did not realize until later in our trip that you have to spend 3 nights for housekeeping to visit your room. This was easily one of our least favorite hotels on a 10 day trip. We spent two nights here and it was a great base to explore Lake Tahoe from. Chelsea at the front desk was great when I left my room key in the room and to get another. Always great to see a fellow Texan when traveling. I have tried to be fair with this review. This location was old and dated. We are not gamblers so the casino thing turned us off. When checking in we noticed a gambler running around literally thumping his chest so we were hoping that security was tight and it was. I started to play a slot machine but I couldn't even figure out how much they cost to play. Guess I am used to seeing penny, nickel, or quarter signs on the machine. Maybe I didn't look close enough but I never saw this. I have been to Tahoe before but I think next time I will stay on the California side away from the casinos.”
