Pros and cons and I am being very fair. Stayed in December 2021. Service: Very good, reception is helpful, housekeeping is especially well trained. Room: Imagine paying for a hotel this price and have no bathtub in the room. First reason for 1 star. Restaurant: Terrible dinner. Second reason for 1 star. Ridiculous fusion food, ingredients don't even match, imagine octopus with sweetened lotus roots paste, tastes really weird. Also tried more local cuisine, got a tasteless lamb meat. This was the worst fine dining food we have had in Portugal. Breakfast is nice and fresh. For a hotel like this you'd expect much better dinner as there's literally no other choice in the surroundings. Avoid this hotel if you expect a matching restaurant. Location: Worst element, third reason for 1 star. Been driving around the location for 1h, landscape is lame and boring! There are many better sceneries in Portugal elsewhere than this. This area is visibly poor, perhaps if you are a philanthropist you'd enjoy helping with local economy. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, this place bores you out. Definitely not a dream destination. Over-marketed and overrated. Worth of half of its price.

Hotel fantástico, tudo em perfeita harmonia, até o clima cinzento do inverno europeu que deixa a paisagem bucólica transforma o lugar em especial. Sem dúvidas vale a pena. Super recomendo do SPA ao restaurante Vale do Abraão tudo perfeito.

Simply the best. Felt like we should have spent our whole time in Portugal here from the moment we arrived. Beautiful facilities, staff are super friendly and helpful, lots of activities to do on site. Next time we will definitely stay longer (only stayed two nights)

Dos melhores que já estive para não dizer o melhor. Em tudo no serviço na atenção nos quarto no Spa. Magnifico. Eu que sou extremamente exigente estou siderada. Tudo 5 estrelas mesmo. Vou voltar. Estou a gostar muito. Portugal no seu melhor.

The most lovely hotel in Douro Valley. Had an incredible stay here. We loved relaxing at the pool and walking around the property. Lots of beautiful sites. The restaurants were very good as well. This place is top notch!

Lovely helpful staff, beautiful space with the nicest views. The spa is truly wonderful! There are a few cheeky bits which stops this from being a 5 star review - breakfast is not included, which is very cheeky as you are in the middle of no where! And for what it is, it is VERY expensive and not good value for money. There are lots of activities on offer, which is great but they are all incredibly expensive for something fairly basic. The room we had was nice but had a bathtub right in the middle which was a bit odd. Overall, a wonderful stay and a beautiful place. With a few small tweaks, this would be perfect.

Best time to visit is around November, when all the grape leaves turn red and yellow. We were lucky to visit on sunny week. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Should try the wine testing and the tasting menu the main restaurant. Love their breakfast and yogurt and even dinner menu. Everything is fresh and organic. Love all the breads, the bakery chef is really doing a good job. The big applause for the team at six sense. Will come back.

Simplesmente um dos melhores e mais lindos lugares que já visitei♥️ A estadia no hotel por si só já é uma atração a parte da sua localização, essa região maravilhosa de Portugal. Tudo impecável, perfeito, desde a suíte duplex até a alimentação e o spa, realmente é difícil escolher o que foi melhor!!! O atendimento discreto e muito atencioso (sem exageros!) dos colaboradores é impecável. Elogios especiais ao café da manhã completíssimo e que disponibiliza um chef realizando nossos pedidos na hora e ao vivo!!! Custo: vale o que cobra, cada centavo de euro!!! Sonho em 1 dia poder retornar a este paraíso!!! 🥰

Saying that it is an Amazing hotel falls short of the truth and does not make it proper justice. The premises and its environs are an absolute WONDER, the staff is exceedingly kind and helpful at all times, and the food and wines will make delights of any foodie worth its salt. Definitely worth a 5 star review (would give it 6 stars if was possible).

Beautiful region, extremely well decorated hotel, meticulously helpful and polite staff. Extremely high quality food. Comfortable room, large and overlooking the river. Considered by many, the best hotel in Portugal. Luxury Spa, indoor and outdoor pools with fantastic views of the river and the Douro valley.Management team present and sociable that welcomes new guests.Will definitely return soon.

Espectacular. Está en un enclave único y demuestra porque se trata de un hotel de 5 estrellas. Habitaciones grandes y con todo tipo de detalles. Buen servicio del personal, tanto en la recepción como en la zona de restauración y la piscina. Mejoraría las actividades que se ponen a disposición de los huéspedes, ya que no son muchas y enseguida se cubren las pocas plazas disponibles

The Six Senses Douro Valley features a spectacular and fragrant garden full of lush vegetation, a splendid clock tower, a swimming pool, vineyards and many places to sit, relax and enjoy a book or a soothing glass of locally produced Port wine in the over 8 hectares of property. There is also a Spa and wellness centre with an incredible indoor swimming pool and massage facilities. We had a truly amazing stay at the property and our personal highlights were the swimming pool area to relax during the hot days and the wine tasting experience with Rui, the local and charismatic wine expert that shared a lot of knowledge about the region and local wine.

I spent 2 nights at Six Senses with my girlfriend and we loved the experience. The hotel has some of the best views you can imagine from the Douro region and the swimming pool was the perfect getaway to relax. We truly enjoyed the wine tasting experience with Rui and enjoyed the knowledge shared about the region and the wine culture.

Very nice hotel w 40+ rooms. We are particularly happy with the comprehensive gym that it offers. The restaurant menu is quite international, while I would personally like it more Portuguese. The bar offers an interesting cocktail menu, and I really like white port as a summery drink. After driving around Douro Valley, I would say this is the best hotel in the valley

What a grand hotel! The place you can go to stay IN 🤩 great food and wine in a palatial setting. Had a tour with the wine and food manager and was left open mouthed. The absolute best care they take with guests is unparalleled. Definitely worth a visit if... You can not see the bottom of your wallet 🤑 yeah, it is super expensive, but you get what you pay for!

Me encantó comprobar cómo la filosofía de lo sostenible no es un simple slogan de marketing sino una realidad muy cierta. La gastronomía merece figurar en las más altas cotas de la Guía Michelin. Todo el personal del spa es de 10. Fue una experiencia inolvidable.

Las instalaciones tanto comunes como de las propias habitaciones son espectaculares. Calidad en todos los elementos, diseño bonito y bien cuidado. Limpieza perfecta y todo tipo de servicios disponibles. Lo único un poco negativo es que el personal es excesivamente atento, por un lado eso está muy bien, pero en algún momento o casos concretos puede resultar un poco excesivo e incluso invasivo. En cualquier caso, un servicio de personal magnífico. Aunque es obvio que es un hotel exclusivo, los precios de algunos productos o servicios tienen un coste desproporcionado. Pese a todo, una experiencia de estancia absolutamente recomendable.
